Operation Control Hypertension!

The treatment of hypertension begins with accurate measurement. 

In order to identify hypertensive individuals, mass BP taking was done by the team using the 2017 AHA guidelines.  61 hypertensive individuals were identified and 56 among them have uncontrolled hypertension leaving only 5 individuals with controlled hypertension. These individuals were enlisted in the Barangay Motibot Hypertension Club otherwise known as Hugpong Kontra Hypertension. 

In order to empower the club, the conduct and monitoring of activities for hypertension were  turned over to the club officers along with a logbook that they can use for record keeping.

Monitoring is equally important with knowing one’s hypertension stage.  Monitoring booklets were given to each member of the club which they can use to keep track of their blood pressure levels. Important points on hypertension were also included in the booklets.

The BHWs were further equipped on manual BP taking through the conduct of a training and workshop. A manual BP set was also turned over to the BHS.
