Establishing Emergency Response System

Barangay Motibot Emergency Response System (BMERS) aims to provide immediate response when medical emergencies happen in Barangay Motibot. This month, the group started with orienting the key persons of Motibot regarding the importance of having an emergency response system and what BMERS is all about. Key persons included were the Barangay Captain, Councilors, Barangay Health Workers, Barangay Nutrition Scholar, Barangay Nurse, Barangay Officials, Sangguniang Kabataan, and representatives from sector 1 to 7.

Together with the key persons who attended, the BMERS management plan flowchart was formulated. Basically, Barangay Captain will be in charge with the over-all transactions concerning medical emergencies which will be responded by respective Councilor or In-charge of the sector where the incident took place.

After formulating the BMERS management plan flowchart, core team was then appointed. Councilors from different sectors were asked to appoint representatives from their sector who are fit to respond to emergencies and perform BLS to be part of the core team. The next activity that we conducted was the Basic Life Support training. BMERS core team was trained with first aid and BLS for them to be equipped with knowledge and skills in case of emergency.

Finally, BMERS hotline was also started. IEC materials were posted in different areas of the Barangay - market, bakery, school, stores, health center, and streets.
