MAAYONG KASILYAS PARA SA MAAYONG LAWAS

One of the goals of the WHO is that every person in the world has access to toilets that safely contain excreta. This is essential to protect the health of individuals, communities and the environment from disease such as Diarrhea, which is the top 2 cause of morbidity in Barangay Motibot since 2014. This concern was raised to the council last June 2019 by the group which made them alarmed with current situation of the barangay in terms of the inadequate toilet facilities and how this affect the health of the community people. The group also suggested ways on how to procure water-sealed toilet bowls, such as asking help from the municipality’s General Service Office (GSO).

Months later, the council did their part on requesting for water-sealed toilet bowls. Luckily, they were 20 water-sealed toilet bowls which were already given to 12 households or families without toilet facilities. 8 water-sealed toilet bowls were still in the Barangay hall for those families without toilet facilities. The barangay council also agreed that no one can procure the toilet bowls unless those who are in need also do their part, which is to have their own septic tanks or cemented holes. It was heartwarming that the council is listening to every health dilemma that we present to them. With this partnership, the group is doing their best to locate and identify families without toilet facilities to promote health and wellness.

Aside from the fact that the group wants to declare the Zero Open Defecation Program in Barangay Motibot, they are also more concern on the health problems if all of these can’t be prevented. Together with the people, we will push the campaign for the procurement of toilet, in order for every person to have access to toilet. Kay kung naay maayo na kasilyas, sigurado maayo pod ang atong lawas.
